Film & Movie Design — Citizen Kane
Designing the cover for The Criterion Collection’s release of Citizen Kane was both an honor and a unique creative challenge. For a film widely regarded as one of the greatest ever made, the artwork needed to feel as considered and enduring as the movie itself.
Originally, the brief called for a collage-based cover for the disc set. As the project evolved, we took a more conceptual approach, focusing on the iconic “K” that appears throughout the film as a visual symbol of wealth, class, and ego. The resulting design created a bold, memorable cover while giving audiences a new way to think about the film.
The artwork sparked plenty of conversation online—which felt particularly fitting for a movie that was controversial and divisive when it was first released in 1941.
We work with film companies, filmmakers, producers, and entertainment brands to create thoughtful visual design for the screen and beyond, including movie posters, film titles, DVD and Blu-ray packaging, box sets, key art, promotional graphics, and branding.
